Finally, a clear night (and a clear enough head to operate the equipment, albeit remotely!!) 127×180 second exposures at minus 12degrees sensor temperature result in the image of the Bubble Nebula and the M52 open star cluster.
The “bubble” is created by matter ejected from a star around 300,000 years ago. It lies some 7500 light years away. The bright open cluster of stars is a little nearer, around 5000 light years…
