When you start out as a photographer, the term aperture and the affect it has on your photo is something of a mystery, writes Andrew James & Jon Adams. But, as you start to develop your understanding of aperture and its relationship with shutter speed and ISO within the Exposure Triangle, then aperture starts to make more sense. However, regardless of experience, the question we have to ask ourselves every time we take a photo is ‘what aperture do I need?’
