About Me

Andy Miller

Historically, taking pictures was largely just for fun, but since leaving full time work at the end of 2015 (aged ~55) this increasingly expensive hobby that gets me out of the house has become more like a day job. 2016 & 2017 were years of discovery for me and my photograph – spending over 16 weeks on a safari, mainly in Africa, and taking lots of opportunity to engage with top pros on workshops and seminars. I have learnt a lot, but I’m aware I have much more to go.

2018-2020 I was living and working in Abu Dhabi UAE. Returning to the UK in 2020 straight into lockdown and have only recently escaped. My expeditions have started again in 2022.

Almost all images are shot with Nikon digital cameras from one of the first digital point and shoots to my latest acquisitions Nikon Z9 replacing my D5, D500 and trusty pair of D850s. Almost all my shots are taken RAW and are converted, adjusted and cropped in Lightroom.
From May 2020 (enforced lockdown limited my shoots) I acquired a Hasselblad X1D-II and have begun my medium format journey.

In January 2022 I received the first or my Nikon Z9 “mirrorless” cameras. Hopefully the 2nd will arrive soon together with the 2 long Z-mount lenses I also ordered.

A number of my shots involve predators interacting with prey — including killing and eating — so beware.
