Morning Buzzers and happy Friday! I need your collective help on something. I am currently working on my Q&A pages for Digital Camera Magazine and one question I have relates to switching from DSLR to mirrorless. Those of you who have done this, what do you feel has been the biggest single benefit and have you come come across any negatives in the journey?

    • Have mailed you AJ at your FB address.

    • Hi AJ, late to the party on this one, but the biggest benefit for me was EVF. I learn through seeing, so being able to see my exposure has helped me a lot in situations where you can’t rely on the light meter. The biggest downside to me, and this is probably a Sony thing rather than a mirrorless thing, is the overall responsiveness of the camera when switching to a mechanical shutter compared to an electronic one, that and banding under artificial lighting. I switched on my old 7D the other day and it’s much faster to power on and get to a state where you can shoot than either of my Sony’s and the mechanical shutter on it is very good. I don’t know what Canon mirrorless or other brands are like in terms of how long they take to ‘boot up’ when you turn them on. Overall I’d say it’s been a good experience as I get much better photos than I used to, but there has been a definite learning curve.
