New Year Fine Art Print Challenge

It’s about time we printed more of our images, writes Andrew James, so for this week’s video I’m going to discuss the things to think about when printing and hanging your ‘fine art’ photography, as well as look at two really easy ways to give your image a subtle arty twist in Photoshop.

  1. I love printing and went on a masterclass with Adrian Beasley and Rachel Talibert last year. It is so satisfying seeing the finished product. Is your frame a standard off the shelf or is it bespoke? I bought some handmade ones from a framer and I’m not really happy with them, probably because I chose too thin a frame. It is plain black as that is what I like.

  2. I’ve recently had a couple printed professionally so I’d be interested in this. The images I’ve had never quite match my own (smaller) home prints, or what I see on screen, and are generally a fair bit darker 🤔😞

  3. I look forward to watching this. I was gutted I’d ordered my photo calendars for the family and a large aluminium print of one of the Camargue horses photos before the processing course. Each time I see it, I realise how much better it could have been …

  4. As the owner of two new printers this last month, (first one was faulty) looking forward to watching this.

  5. Nice one AJ, loved the Marcel Marceau section of the video 😉

  6. Really useful tutorial, as always, AJ.
