Amazing colours!

I would say yes it is (a southern hawker). Emperors have more blue on them. And migrant hawkers are blue rather than yellow/green. That's my relatively inexpert take on it having checked my Complete British Insects and checked some websites.

This is totally cool!

I find spot metering really useful when I'm photographing small subjects (birds, rats, flowers! etc) in sunny conditions against dark or shady backgrounds. Evaluative makes the whole scene too light.
